In a way, I had been nervous about Kelsey Band being the next Chapter Leader. I had grown accustomed to Bradrick Fehn, but there had been a falling-out between him and the remainder of the Kindol Chapter.
The Guild Headquarters in Northmoor had caught wind of me and the death of Findor, the latter of which was no longer a secret. Kara Martins and her companion, "Pete," had fled the premise and to this day have not been spotted since. In any case, an Guildmaster election was carried and won by Howard North, opponent of the late Findor Quotus. Fehn was enraged by this and wrote a public declaration that the Kindol Chapter was to exist independently as an organization separate from the remainder of the Pageturner Guild, despite my insisting otherwise. The remainder of the Kindol Chapter, in response, signed a petition for Fehn to announce his retirement. Fehn relented and did stepped down on September 15. John York became our elected Chapter Leader on September 17.
That was all three years ago.
Nothing has since happened in my life other than my long-term pondering on who I am and what I am meant to be. I hardly batted an eye when York retired and was replaced by Kelsey Band. However, that changed when Kelsey reached out to me. She was nothing more than a distant acquaintance to me at the time. And she backed John York when he became the Chapter Leader after Fehn's retirement. When I met with her today, however, Kelsey told me how she had considered me the most trustworthy person in my role and that she was going to send me on another assignment to Remikra.
At first, I had a bit of dread, remembering the risky trip I took to Combria. But Kelsey assured me that I would be instead going to the Retunian Commonwealth, a much better place. More specifically, I would be going to Cabotton University in the Province of Ereautea, where I would be obtaining information from several individuals posing as members in the Third Level Society, with such information hopefully casting light on rumors having reached us on the possibility of the Society serving as a harbor to the Master Pagewriter. My role is to determine if such sentiment is true, and if so, to identify the Master Pagewriter. This I would relay to Pheleston, who is still the Kindol Chapter Curator.
I agreed to this, needless to say. And I have further comfort in knowing that Band had long since reconciled relations with Howard North in Northmoor.
