In the Third Level Society, Prefects are avatars who oversee certain parts of certain Sectors of the Arturian Realm, as well as the avatars and daemons therein, to ensure that everything and everyone is in compliance with both Administrator and Dungeonmaster policies. Prefects have the ability to issue orders for avatars to remind them to comply with sector and realm rules whenever necessary. Prefects observe and report all forms of non-compliance, be it willful non-compliance by a Member or the rare algorithm script issue.
There have been numerous controversies in the history of the Third Level Society, as outlined in the Third Level Society: First Version story series, including but not limited to the powers of the Prefect and the Prefect selection process. Many of these controversies have been resolved in the Society Caucus, who have voted in compromises accordingly.
