Fall of Orumdeus

In May 772 BCE, Gymra died; thus, in accordance to established terms, Canticius II became the ruler over the Kingdom of Gerya. Shortly after his coronation, Canticius II assigned the Guardians of Gerya to become his personal Royal Guard, a move that historians argue proved to be a strategic mistake. Canticius II then pursued his primary agenda: to defeat Orumdeus and gain the Imperial Throne of Vamastar. Thus, in March 771 BCE, Canticius II commanded a large force of land and maritime Legions and placed Vamastar under siege. Despite the circumstances, Orumdeus determined to wait out the siege, confident that he would eventually be able to eventually break it and defeat Canticius II. However, after only six weeks, a city mob arose and broke into the Imperial Keep, seizing Orumdeus and throwing him off one of the Keep's tall towers. Canticius II would be hailed as a hero as he was given the Throne in Vamastar and the Keys to its Keep.

Rise of Synaria

Shortly before the Vamastar Campaign, Canticius II recruited a large number of Synarin natives fill the ranks of his growing Legions. To these people, he promised the rewards of freedom and independent sovereignty. However, after gaining the Throne of Vamastar, it became clear to the Synarins that such promises were false. In fact, Canticius II was said to have admitted apologetically that "such desperate circumstances often do require desperate measures free from the bonds of honesty and morality." Canticius II attempted to offer the Synarins minor concessions in light of this, but the Synarins refused. In September 771 BCE, under the leadership of a charismatic figure named Mordraya, the Synarin peoples drove out all Cantician forces and proclaimed the West Peninsula as the independent Republic of Synaria. Canticius II responded with reinforcements in an attempt to put down this rebellion, but would spend the next three and a half years unable to do so.

In June 767 BCE, Canticius II received word that his Throne in Akceji had, in his absence, been supplanted by a figure falsely proclaiming himself to be Canticius III. Thus, Canticius II was forced to withdraw his forces and abandon the campaign in the West Peninsula.

Rise of the Falsely-Proclaimed Canticius III, Fall of Canticius II

In September 767 BCE, upon return to Akceji, Canticius II learned that the falsely-proclaimed Canticius III had already secured fealty from the territories of Ne'is'treg, Chufsa, and Mykeni. Declaring that Canticius III was not his son, Canticius II deployed his Royal Guard and declared war upon the usurper. In response, Canticius III called upon King Dylator of the Geljerian Kingdom for aid. Dylator agreed to give aid upon the condition that Canticius III would then surrender the Geryan lands of Nashe, Neehs, Ansohnjon, and Josohnjon. Despite the steep price, Canticius III, out of desperation, agreed to the terms.

Canticius II saw himself outmatched as a result and, in March 766 BCE, returned to the territories of the Cantician Empire to call for aid. However, Henmor, a leading figure among the Karosian peoples, emerged to confront Canticius II over past grievances involving the subjugation of the Karosian peoples. In April 766 BCE, he hired an assassin named Elor who succeeded in ending the life of Canticius II and his entire Royal Guard. It is not known how exactly Canticius II died other than an unknown source declaring that he did so "in shadow and silence." Henmor rewarded Elor and the Gudinian peoples with jurisdiction over the Northerly lands of the Cantician Empire while Vamastar was left open to plunder.

Thus fell the Cantician Empire. Its Southerly lands would form the Karosian Kingdom, to be ruled by King Henmor, while its Northerly lands would form the Gudinian Kingdom, to be ruled by Queen Denmyra.

Kingdom of Gerya: Downfall

King Dylator of the Geljerian Kingdom falsely claimed credit for the defeat of Canticius II and demanded that Canticius III hand over the agreed-upon territories. Having established an extensive spy network, however, Canticius III knew the claim of Dylator to be false and refused to honor the deal, demanding the exile of all Geljerian forces instead. In May 766 BCE, doubling-down on its false claim, King Dylator declared war upon the Geryan Kingdom.

During this conflict, the territories of Morstrah and Nancifra broke away from the Geryan Kingdom to form the independent Kingdom of Nesica, ruled by Queen Xameria and sworn in alliance to the Kingdom of Geljer. Angered by this, Canticius III, in March 765 BCE, personally led an army to invade and subdue this new Kingdom. With no Royal Guard to protect him, however, Canticius III was killed in battle here. Upon hearing news of Canticius III's death, King Dylator led a large number of Geljerian forces, who captured the city of Akceji on 18 April 765 BCE.

Thus fell also the Kingdom of Gerya with all of its territories, except for that of the Kingdom of Nesica, fell under the Kingdom of Geljer. In May 765 BCE, King Dylator made agreements of peace with the Karosia, Gudina, and Synaria. However, underlying tensions between these neighboring nations would linger in the coming years.
