Lyndonpole was established in the year 1208.

It's a very industrial town, with a lot of construction yards. Many of them are dedicated to the manufacture of airship frames and parts. Others are dedicated to the building of vast trading ships for the Circlarian Ocean. And a large portion is dedicated to the cable rail industry. Without Lyndonpole, there would be no national transit infrastructure.

Two years ago this April, the mighty army of water and air pirates, known as the Black Terror, under the banner of the notorious King Vandalik of the Far East, attacked and pillaged the region of Chemko to the South. I will not forget the broadcast of then-Prime Minister James Black over the radio, vowing to bring justice to the damage done to Northpointe Base in the process. Obviously, the Retunian counter-attack drove the Vandalish out of Chemko and out of the chain of seven of the Meredythian Islands. The Vandalish warlord responsible is still at large, still a very real maritime threat out in the Circlarian Ocean, but at least Chemko and the Isles have been liberated.

A large concrete platform in the town centre of Lyndonpole bears a memorial listing the names of Retunian soldiers from the Lyndonpole region who lost their lives in that battle.

I am no fanatic of war, but I am sure there is political pressure on Jackson to live up to the reputation of being a sound "commander of defense."

Also in the cultural fabric of Lyndonpole is infused a general but not irrational fear of the Mount Carris Perimeter not far to the East. At the roots of Mount Carris lies one of the largest natural darkfire quarries in the world. And infamously, in September 1237, the notorious darkfire conjuror Holz Finzi ignited this reserve, causing Mount Carris to appear to "erupt" and eject a cloud of darkfire to envelop the Lyndonpole region and other surrounding regions, including the Basin District, itself.

With its mind-control capabilities, the large presence of darkfire there has always been a subject of concern for Middle Remikra.

More recently, about four years back, suspicious activity carried out by Finzi's Mount Carris regime triggered another similar darkfire event, prompting the federal government to intervene. The enemy proved quite strong, and then-Prime Minister James Black was forced to sign an agreement to establish a mutual boundary between our Republic and the land surrounding Mount Carris, thus, the establishment of the Mount Carris Perimeter. Later, the Council voted to have a wall constructed around this Perimeter, heavily guarded, to prevent the crossing of vulnerable demographics over this line; also to prevent Holz Finzi accomplices from crossing into the remainder of the Republic.

Wall construction started this year, as I have seen through recent documentary videos at the walk-in viewers' cinema in the Town Library. So I decided to take a tour bus to the site, and took some pictures.

The residents of Lyndonpole feel slightly reassured compared to the last two decades, but are nevertheless slightly pretentious.

More importantly, however, I received a ticker message from Fenton tonight at the Hotel. This message read literally no more than this: "Oscar. Change of plans. Please head back to North Kempton tomorrow. An important friend is here to visit."
