If I thought it could not get any worse, I was wrong. The Third Level Society is now without a Bookkeeper.
I may not have had the highest opinion of John Edwards, the incumbent Bookkeeper, but I did have empathy with him over the weekend when he was accused by Dungeonmaster Crane of collaborating with Ceri Mains. This came from the fact that he hesitated a little bit when told to apparently take seriously other accusations made by Peter Crane against the Members that protested against his move to keep the Society open whenever the strike started.
Every January and September, the Bookkeeper has to name the three senior-most Members of the Caucus, plus eleven others in case the original three are not present when needed, to take up as a Bookkeeper Tribunal in the case of the Bookkeeper's absence. This also includes when the Bookkeeper, himself or herself is on trial. So this Thursday, Peter Crane called on the Tribunal to step forward and lead the Caucus in a motion against Edwards on these trumped-up accusations.
Edwards then stepped down.
In fact, Edwards now wants absolutely nothing to do with the Third Level Society. I actually reached out to him in the vain hopes of getting him to rejoin and help to resist Crane, but Edwards would not cooperate.
So now we have the Bookkeeper Tribunal, consisting of Robert Sievert, Fred Henry, and Steve Crane, the latter of whom is Peter Crane's younger brother.
I know that Robert Sievert is a completely loyal individual to Peter Crane as well, for he is an old-time enemy of mine. He had asked me out to a one-on-one dinner date last summer, shortly before the Ceri Mains thing. He asked me to a retreat to an on-board restaurant on one of the local airships out of Gentry County Airfield that just flies around Cabotton for the restaurant experience.
I will admit that I had felt a bit swept off my feet when Robert took me to this place. And I was in a bit of an enchantment in his presence, with the fancy dinner and the beautiful scenery down below.
That was, until he made it clear what he was expecting from me later that night.
I made it clear to him that I was not yet ready for that sort of a thing, that I wanted to...shall we say...take things a bit slower. But he was insistent. I could not wait until the airship landed so that I could get as far away from him as possible. When we did land, he got a bit huffy with me and told me that he did not want to take the same cable train cab as me, and wanted to board the cab waiting alone, asking me to wait for the next one.
So I waited until he left, and then boarded the next cable train cab that arrived fifteen minutes later. I arrived home without incident, but then the phone rang. It was Robert calling, apologizing to me over what happened and asking me for a second chance. I made it clear to him that I was not interested. He called me some obscene names and ended the call.
That was last spring, right before the Ceri Mains thing. When the Ceri Mains thing started, Robert made it clear that he was my mortal enemy by joining the social circle of Peter Crane and Kara Martins and accusing me among numerous other Members of conspiring with Ceri Mains.
And that was before I had any association with Meona Bell and Mary Kormann. So those accusations were completely baseless.
I was actually suspended from engaging in the Arturian Realm, as John Edwards didn't know any better. Julian Mackwell managed to clean up the mess and eventually restored my Membership to a normal status. But ever since, I have had zero trust in Robert.
With that being said, I know very little about the third Bookkeeper Tribunal Member: Fred Henry.
