The Rise of the Kingdom of Gerya

In March 781 BCE, Canticius II turned twelve years of age. A few weeks later, Orumdeus received news that Canticius II was still alive and that he would come of age, that being the age of sixteen, to rule in less than four years. Seeing Canticius II as a threat, Orumdeus dispatched an assassin named Eron to end his life. Skilled in spell-bound fire arrows, hired assassin showed a lot of promise in his assignment. However, when Eron arrived in Akceji to carry out the deed, Gymra, the Mother of the of a protective spellcrafter order known as the Guardians of Gerya, cast a special deflection spell on him, causing him to be killed by his own fire arrow. Thus, the life of Canticius II was spared as he was taken by Gymra to a secret location within the walls of the city of Tosc for extra protection.

In June 781 BCE, an anonymous messenger reached Orumdeus, informing him of the failed assassination attempt by Eron. In response, Orumdeus sent the messenger back to Akceji to call the regional Imperial government to arms and have them declare war on the Guardians of Gerya. And through such orders, the regional government placed much of the region of Gerya under martial law and sought to eliminate Guardian members as well as those deemed even remotely associated with them, at first sight.

Being also that Canticius II had gained popularity among the masses and that the local inhabitants were taxed heavily by Vamastar, the Guardians of Gerya were able to amass fighters to resist Orumdeus' retaliatory measures. By October 780 BCE, the Guardians still has less troops than Orumdeus but, owing to the superior spellcrafter skills of the Guardians, both sides were evenly matched. In November 780 BCE, the Guardians overtook Akceji, driving out the regional Imperial government. And in December 780 BCE, Mother Gymra became the Queen of the Kingdom of Gerya. The Guardian Nobility, consisting of those who, according to Congress of Circlaria requirement, relinquished their spellcrafter licenses to serve advisor roles, then elected Canticius II to become King after Gymra's death and for Canticius II to establish a royal family dynasty when the time came.

In March 779 BCE, Orumdeus attempted to re-capture the city of Akceji, but was driven back by the Guardians' spellfire-enhanced defenses.

The Rise and Fall of the Karosian Kingdom

Over the months that followed, Orumdeus and his advisors crafted a plan for the Kingdom of Gerya. This plan involved the capture of the cities of Yram, Kiem, Sanu, Tanilac, and Estaphie, and the establishment of a General and Legion at each. From these locations, Orumdeus would then have his forces deploy and place Akceji under siege. After two years passing with provisions exhausted, the plan was for Akceji to either agree to a surrender or would be weak enough for Orumdeus to re-capture with ease. Orumdeus launched this agenda in March 777 BCE with the building of supply chains throughout Karosia, the Southern portion of the Cantician Empire.

Problems arose throughout Karosia over this agenda as Imperial Soldiers began forcing demands for food and housing in Karosian towns as well as collect extra taxes. Numerous Karosian communities rose up in rebellion, but, being scattered efforts, were put down easily. During this time, a group of townspeople traveled to Akceji and petitioned the Gerian Crown for help. It was from this that the Gerians learned of Orumdeus' agenda, and they fortified the cities that Orumdeus intended to use as launch points. They also dispatched oathcrafters to Karosia where they rallied and organized the local inhabitants. And in January 776 BCE, they rose in rebellion and successfully drove out Orumdeus' forces. In March, Amyra, an avowed leader of this rebellion, became Queen of the newly-established Kingdom of Karosia.

The Karosian Kingdom would not last long, however. Between March 776 BCE and May 775 BCE, Orumdeus pulled soldiers from the North and the surrounding seas as well as recruited many more. And in May 775 BCE, he launched his forces into Karosia, making short work of the Kingdom as Queen Amyra was killed and the Karosian lands were brought back under Orumdeus' rule.

775 BCE: Defeat of Orumdeus, Signing of the Gerian Kingdom Treaty

While Orumdeus fought to re-conquer Karosia, Queen Gymra of the Gerian Kingdom fortified and garrisoned all cities lining the Midland River to the standards of Guardian spellcrafting. In October 775 BCE, Orumdeus launched his forces into the Gerian Kingdom, trying to bring it under rule like the Karosian Kingdom. However, being strengthened as they were, the Gerians drove out Orumdeus with heavy losses on Orumdeus' side and barely any casualties on the Gerian side. In November 775 BCE, Orumdeus and Gymra signed a peace treaty for Orumdeus to respect the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Gerya.
