The Beginning

From an unknown origin emerged Five Deities: the Goddess Maersa, the Goddess Vera, the God Sterran, the God Tersan, and the Goddess Mathena. Together they formed the Divine Foundation and created Planet Arturia in their design and image. With this, they set out to achieve a holy vision which they came to name: the Divine Arturian Mandate.

The Mandate consisted of Two Principles. The First Principle was to set out and explore more of the Universe and to do so through the progress of an ever-evolving human race. The Second Principle was for the Five Deities to cast reflections of themselves known as Antedeities, who would create within the interior of Planet Arturia in a void removed from the reality of Arturia an equivalent of the known cosmos known as the Antecosmos (now referred to as the Underworld). These Antedeities would do so through a similar ever-evolving human race inhabiting a world underground known as the Dungeonworld.

And so in establishing their world, their Foundation, and their Mandate, the Five Deities established each for themselves a Kingdom, with Maersa ruling over the Crescan Kingdom, Vera over the Galacian Kingdom, Sterran over the Parradin Kingdom, Tersan over the Marlen Kingdom, and Mathena over the Prestian Kingdom.

Expansion and Revolution

The Divine Foundation also established in their time a calendar beginning with Year 1. By Year 5000, the Five Kingdoms prospered equally and peacefully. And their race of humans was so evolved that by that time in history, they had long been building and operating vessels capable of transcending the Cosmos. Consorts from the Five Kingdoms had firmly established settlements across numerous planets with one regional center of government on a particular planet for each of the Five Kingdoms.

These jurisdictions were initially loyal to their respective Kingdoms on Planet Arturia, the Planet of Origin. But in Year 5001, revolution and mutiny deposed the regional government in the central exoplanetary settlement under the Galacian Kingdom. That year, they subsequently gained independence, forming the Republic of Galacia. With enough technology and resources in their power, were able to overcome the forces from the Galacian Kingdom ruled from Planet Arturia attempting to take them back after a sixteen-year battle. In 5017, the Goddess Vera conceded and officially recognized the Republic.

Revolution and Establishment

Year 5021 saw the breakaway of the exoplanetary jurisdictions under the Prestian and Marlen Kingdoms, with such breakaways forming the Republics of Prestia and Marlen. And Year 5032 saw the successful breakaway of the planetary settlements under the remaining two Kingdoms as well as the formation of the Republics of Parradin and Cresca. In 5041, the five Republics united and formed the Secular Confederation of Arturia. The Confederation in 5047 launched a conjoined military agenda to invade Planet Arturia and sweep the Five Deities of the Divine Foundation from power.

The agenda lasted four years with stiff resistance from the Foundation. But in 5051, the Confederation succeeded in sweeping the Divine from power, destroying their Divine Beings in the Divineworld over the Arturian Terraworld and forcing their Divine souls to each go to one of Five Netherworlds in the Underworld and re-merge with their Antedeity counterparts. Representatives from each of the five Republics under the Confederation met in the Holy City of Maersa on the Isle of the Summit to formally establish a Constitution for government and to establish an order of their own, consisting of humans powerful enough to govern as "deity-equivalents."

Overthrow and Struggle

In 5054, proceedings of this Great Council were interrupted when Maurius, a very powerful spellcrafter, deposed the Council with the onslaught of fire and armies of daemons, which included scores of companies of serpents. The City and Isle were laid to waste as Maruius attempted to establish his own regime. The remaining Confederation forces were able to subdue him and keep his regime at bay within the perimeter of the Isle. But alas, the Isle and City were forever corrupted and are to this day. And the said City was renamed Antemaersa by the Confederation.

All troubles seemed over, but unfortunately the Great Council never met again. The Crisis of Maurius sparked a conflict of mutual blame and discord. A coalition of militant fighters and spellcrafters deposed of the government the Republic of Marlen in 5056, re-establishing it as the Divine Kingdom of Marlen. The remaining forces of the Confederation attempted to put down this breakaway movement, but their efforts were hindered by a similar breakaway movement in 5061, which led to the establishment of the Divine Kingdom of Prestia. Together, the Kingdoms of Marlen and Prestia banded together and began a conjoined war on the remaining three states of the Confederation. In 5067, the Republic of Cresca, increasingly opposed to the factional war between the Divine Kingdoms and the Confederation, sought neutrality and, itself, broke away from the Confederation. In 5071, new leadership was elected to the Confederation, now consisting of two remaining States: Parradin and Galacia. Such leadership sought an overreaching military agenda against the renegade Republic and two Divine Kingdoms in order to restore the Confederation. However, the Republic of Parradin was opposed to this and subsequently broke away that year, leaving only the Republic of Galacia the sole State of which the old Confederation consisted.

And in 5072, the Galacian government was overthrown and replaced with the Reformed Confederation of Galacia. Although democratic on paper, the Reformed Confederation of Galacia is, in practical terms, an authoritarian one-party state.

Nevertheless, it was the Triumverate leadership of Galacia that called the cease-fire and ordered cooperating military forces to construct the city of Novapax. When that was completed in 5084, a Council of Peace was held here, with such Council succeeding in signing a fragile Peace Treaty which only called for an indefinite extension of the cease-fire. The Treaty also called for the construction of other stateless cities of neutrality similar to Novapax. These cities were Mareglaciei, Novatrivis, and Tremur.

So the violence was ended in Year 5084, but tensions still remain between the Five Nations. And tensions have, since 5084, been emerging within each Nation.
