Third Level Society: First Version

Beginning: Deborah and Thomas Mack

Mother:

Firstly, magic does not exist. It is called spellfire. Spellfire and its works are practiced by spellcasters, spellcrafters, and stonecrafters, all regulated internationally by the great organization we call the Circlarian School of Spellfire Crafting. And we have not had self-proclaimed “sorcerers” or “necromancers” since ancient times.

Secondly, not all TableQuest sessions are treacherous like we all are made to believe. That's propaganda talk coming from the stubborn vigilante Reonard Chaney, who wants to blame all of society's issues on Finzi and his darkfire cronies. This TableQuest session in particular is being run by my good friend, Glenda Browen, as well as her cousin, Ivella Ogden. They have the session's dymensional frame nestled safely in the living room of their house on 124 West Mason Street; so no one can get to it there.

And just in case you're not actually familiar with what a dymensional plane is, it is essentially a projector device, called a Trecholator, which reads spellfire script algorithms written in an Algorithms Book without actually opening the Book, and projects the results of these algorithms upon a wide wooden table called a Frame. In this case, as in most other cases, the result is an image of AN ENTIRE WORLD, land and sea, projected holographically onto this table. Furthermore, this projection is safe to touch. I was so blown away seeing my first dymensional plane in action that I reached my hand into the holographic image of the fictional land of Arturia. I immediately pulled my hand back and said "sorry." But Glenda and Ivella reassured me that it was safe, so long as the actual Algorithms Book or Trecholator were not tampered with.

That dymensional plane, by the way, is just the general viewing port for all the members involved in the session. The results created in the Trecholator are also beamed by radio waves up to smaller viewing ports located in various places, be it members' bedrooms or what not, that are curtailed to giving perspective to each player with respect to the character they create for the fictional world. This created character is called an avatar. And the miniature viewing that each player uses for their avatar is called a console.

I have created my own avatar and have long been playing up to this point. I am sure to leave time for my studies and to do well academically, but I am nonetheless fascinated. And you need no worry about treachery. As I have mentioned, this TableQuest session is in good hands with Ivella and Glenda. Their roommates, two very decent people named Arthur and Martin, are involved in leading this session as well.

So I am fine and well. I am going to stay for the remainder of the summer and simply stay into Fall Semester. However, I will find a day to head back to pay the family a visit.

All the best.

Tom
