Third Level Society: First Version
Story Seven: Sarah Marks

As much as I hate what Peter Crane is doing, I don't like the response from some of his opponents right now.

There seems to be a push from a group of Members, led, I think, by the Music Composition Professor of the University, to amend the Third Level Society Statute of Principle to allow only faculty members to become the Dungeonmaster.

I forgot for awhile that yes, there are faculty members who are Members of the Society. This was another reminder indeed. There's nothing wrong with that but the policy of banning non-faculty from the Dungeonmaster position gives the same impression from about 30 years ago into the early days of former Headmaster Martin Cross, who had pushed for the Society to be administered by a faculty member. Some of the faculty opposed to the Composition professor were telling me about this. Accordingly, the Society Members at that time had stood up to Cross and stopped that policy from taking effect.

And I agree: this is a radical change for the worse, should it succeed.

And also, it raises questions like "Should this rule apply to Administrators?" and "What about Contributors?" The Third Level Society Caucus is deeply divided over this.

I will say that we have had some wild short-lived storms about non-sensical reforms blow through the Chamber in the past, even when I was there. So I do have a hope that this proposal may see the same end.
