We went to the Mount Carris Perimeter to meet with Ceri Mains in a special meeting chamber. Our party included myself, Julian Mackwell, and Dyla Cormick.

So I saw Ceri Mains in her genuine appearance. And this is her account of the events.

She first explained her background, saying that she was born on April 12, 1261 inside the Perimeter, and that, being afflicted with Involuntary Darkfire Conjuration Syndrome, she was not permitted to leave the Perimeter. However, she earned a place in Finzi's Gifted Academic Program. She graduated high school at the age of 16 and finished her undergraduate studies only two years later, in 1279.

That same year, she intended to gain a graduate degree in Maritime and Aeronautical Engineering, but such a graduate study was not an option within the Perimeter. The reason for that was due to the fact that the study was available in only one school: Cabotton University.

Out of sheer curiosity, according to her, Ceri had sent an application for a spot in that program under her pseudo-name: Mary Kormann. And she was accepted. Ceri knew that she legally was confined to the Perimeter, so she gathered a petition and submitted it to the Interior Secretary in the Basin District in the hopes of being granted an exception to leave the Perimeter in order to pursue her graduate study at Cabotton University. This petitioned was wholly rejected without further dispute. Ceri was determined, though, so she plotted her escape. Between November 1280 and February 1281, she designed a custom-made submarine that she would use to escape, using her knowledge in Maritime and Aeronautical Engineering.

How she carried this out in secret, even against the Finzi Community, is beyond incredible, especially considering the extensive tests she used with every aspect of the construction. Also of question was how aware Headmaster Lach was of all this.

Nonetheless, Ceri finished, finalized, and deployed her prototype with the objective of diving into Lake Maern, which is deeper than many people realize, and slip undetected through the River outlet on the South Shore. She would then land on the bank in a designated spot in a rural area outside the Mount Carris Perimeter. From there she would travel to another location and meet with a darkfire disguise artist to help put on her disguise of Mary Kormann so that she would attend Cabotton University without attracting suspicion.

Obviously, the mission was a success. However, I asked Ceri an important question: Did she have anything to do with the feud? She stated that she was aware of the feud, and waited until things heated up to the point that she could slip through unnoticed. However, she insisted during our conversation that she did not directly cause anything.

In any case, Ceri escaped successfully on June 12. It was not until two days later that the authorities noted her missing and brought everything to national attention. Ceri in her disguise arrived at Cabotton University on June 17.

But she did not do this alone. Her relation to the feud was through her friendship with Charles Kormann, who, along with Emily Parris, served as a talisman-wielding protector. Ceri also had help from Meghan Seerny, who lived in Vale. And then her cousin, Kevin Mains, who went by Parker when he was with us, was the one who delivered the disguise maintenance drink to Ceri on a regular basis.

So Ceri's method of disguise as Mary Kormann required that she consumed a certain custom-made drink on a regular basis. The required ingredients in careful preparation consisted of one floan of a form of darkfire known as xemox, one strand of Ceri's hair, one strand of Charles Kormann's hair, one strand of Emily Parris' hair, and one cup of silver wine. This led to Ceri Mains' disguise of Mary Kormann, and was the drink to maintain such a disguise by being prepared and administered once every three days.

And the process of making this complicated recipe was so extensive that it could not be done under cover at Cabotton University. Therefore, Kevin Mains' role was to travel around and collect the ingredients for Meghan Seerny, who would make the drink in her abode in Vale on the next day. On the next day after that, the recipe was placed in a sealed vial, which was picked up by Kevin Mains, who would then go onto the University Campus undetected and deliver it to Ceri.

Many people are not familiar with these types of recipes to exist in the darkfire community, and would be outright disgusted. However, the darkfire properties involved make these kinds of things consumable, making it worth the trouble if one needs to carry on a disguise such as Ceri at the time. However, the recipe was very rudimentary, giving a piecemeal appearance of the distinct traits of each person involved without so much homogeny that this was no wonder that I felt that Mary Kormann had a pieced-together appearance.

Nevertheless, Ceri Mains, under her Mary Kormann disguise, was able to use darkfire crafting to emotionally sway those around her that she was Mary Kormann and an unwilling victim being pursued by Ceri Mains on the run.

So the rest is history, with Ceri Mains' flight to the Acrean Republic and the ordeal with her new disguise: Rachel Marie Clymer.

We all had a bunch of questions, including whether or not she had something to do with the Great Oak glowing the violet hue after the lightning strike. Unsurprisingly to me, Ceri said that they had nothing to do with that Tree. Also, she would not tell us the whereabouts of her two "body guards," Kevin Mains, or Meghan Seerny, all of whom still remain, to this day, at large.

There will eventually be a major trial in the Basin District regarding Ceri Mains' fate, but this Friday will be a special arrangement with a Federal Arbitrator.

We shall see what happens next.
